Reflection and Intention

Last fall I turned 29, although it’s hard to believe it wasn’t just a few months ago. My mom told me that for her 29 was a very significant year. She has always said that if she could be any age again, that would be it. In reflecting upon this year, and as 30 rapidly approaches (yikes!), I’ve started to realize how true this has been for me, too.

I’ve been living in the Pacific Northwest for the past year and a half now. It’s a place I’ve always been drawn to for some elusive reason – just a desire to be somewhere that seems full of creative energy. I never expected to actually end up here, let alone the way that I did, but it has been the setting for an amazing journey into my creativity, spirituality, and self that has helped me start to break free of some negative patterns and overcome my own resistances. That’s not to say I’ve mastered anything, but I’m appreciating the experience of realizing the fruits of my labor. It’s not just the new pieces I’ve added to my portfolio, but the feelings of peace, strength, forgiveness, and compassion that have grown with each work of art and each inspirational moment that have truly shaped this year. In a time when everything around us seems to be falling apart, I’m truly grateful to be where I am and to have my art – my soul – guiding me.

This journey has taught me to see through a different lens – one that is more loving and optimistic, rooted in the belief that anything is possible if I put my intention behind it and believe in the magic around and within me. With this mindset, along with a greater focus on awareness and spirituality, those pestering thoughts of “I can’t” and “I’m not” have begun to persist less and less, allowing more space for what could be.

There has been a beautiful change underway that has sparked a desire to create a fusion of my art, anthropological training, spirituality, and interests, and a passion to share this in ways that might heal and inspire. My husband, Zach, shares this passion, and through Sound Moon Studio we hope to lead others to open their minds, enhance their awareness, hone their skills, and further themselves along a path of higher understanding.

So with that, I welcome you to Sound Moon Studio! Thank you for being here now, and please stay tuned!
